BHP Billiton
UCL (Australia) will award up to A$1.935m of scholarships to the most outstanding students to study a PhD (research) in Energy and Resources. These scholarships are intended to support students pursuing postgraduate studies in energy and resources at either the UCL School of Energy and Resources, Australia, or the UCL International Energy Policy Institute.
UCL prides itself on being a research-led, innovative organisation which attracts students who are committed, in equal measure, to social, commercial and sustainable behaviours and practices. UCL aims to produce graduates whose values include being:
a. critical and creative thinkers;
b. ambitious - but also idealistic and committed to ethical behaviour;
c. aware of the intellectual and social value of cultural difference;
d. entrepreneurs with the ability to innovate;
e. willing to assume leadership roles: in the workplace, the community and the family; and
f. highly employable and ready to embrace professional mobility.
Scholarships will be available for each academic year until 2016.

Características: The value of each PhD scholarship is the total tuition fee for the three years of the programme ($96,750) paid directly to UCL (Australia). In addition a stipend for living expenses of up to A$25,000 payable in each year of the programme for the period of enrolment. The scholarship is tenable for three years (full time) subject to continued satisfactory academic progress.

The scholarship programme is open to students who have accepted an offer of admission (conditional or unconditional) to study full or part-time in the PhD programme at UCL (Australia).
For the PhD, applicants who meet the criteria for admission, will be ranked on:
a. academic performance;
b. proposed research project and relevance to the School and International Energy Policy Institute (IEPI) research interests;
c. a personal statement;
d. interview (where candidates will be asked to demonstrate their knowledge and capacity to undertake research in their chosen field); and
e. academic references.
